City Council of Lloret de Mar
Participatory Budgets 2018
The City Council of Lloret de Mar wanted to promote its third participatory budgets and, as it did in 2017, relied on Civiciti to put them in motion. The challenge was double, in addition to continue including its inhabitants in the distribution of part of its municipal budget, they wanted to increase the participation compared to previous years.
Unlike previous editions in which the proposals to vote were related to determined zones, in 2018 the citizenship was asked for proposals for the entire municipality, with a higher impact and with a cost up to € 500,000. After the corresponding technical validation, only 10 proposals were able to be voted, resulting finally winning the installation of video surveillance cameras, in several developments, connected to the Local Police server.
The increase in participation was another of the objectives achieved since there was an increase of 86.06%.
The increase in participation shows the quality of proposals made and that, as a project, the Participated Budgets are being consolidated, allowing the involvement of neighbors in their environment, while reflecting on what may be useful to the public space.
