Government of Peru
The Peruvian government, supported by civil society representatives, aimed to initiate a citizen participation and revitalisation process, to promote the design and creation of solutions for resolving the main problems that affected its citizens. The process was to focus on Citizen Safety, Water and Sanitation, Disaster Prevention and Corruption.
Desafíos D arose as a collective initiative, promoted by civil society, government and the private sector, to promote the development of solutions to improve the quality of life of Peruvian citizens. Using Civiciti, it involved citizens, entrepreneurs and developers in the registration of citizen proposals that were then divided into 4 thematic areas set by the Peruvian Government. The winning idea from each area would be developed and tested at a public institution.
Not only has the tool given citizens a voice and vote regarding solutions that will be implemented in the country, but it has also helped foster debate and knowledge. Initially involving citizens in the planning process, and later enabling them to be involved in the generation of solution prototypes.
