The Awards Ceremony for the 2017 Open Awards took place in Madrid this afternoon, part of the fourth edition of OpenExpo.
Our CEO, Pablo Sarrias, on collecting the award took the opportunity to emphasise: “the value of technology as a means of ensuring citizen participation and commentary in relation to the activities of institutions, at a time when citizens are demanding greater involvement in decision-making”.
Award winners also included ZYLK for Best Service Provider, Travel Air by Viajes Eroski developed by Irontec, for Best Digital Transformation, Edupills by Educación INTEF for Most innovative project. The award for the Best Cloud Solution went to WhiteBearSolutions and the Best Start-up award was for Scratch School. Lastly, Open Source Weekends was declared the winner in the Best Community Technology category and Scalera as best media/blog.
In addition, the OpenExpo organisation and the awards panel made a series of special mentions to leading personalities and projects in the open source world: Montserrat Boix (Women in Open Source), Fab Lab Madrid (Open Source Solidarity Project), Robot IO (Open Source in Medicine and Science), Tumaker (Open Source in Education and Social Services), José María Fuster (Open Source Evangelizer) and Carlos Rodríguez (CEO Collaboration in Open Source projects).
